A Place to Belong

In 1904, Mrs William Brooks passed away and was buried in the plot of ground that is now our cemetery. She and her husband had often expressed a desire for a church here, but it was not until after they died that Mr. John Sorrells, deeply feeling the need for a church, called the people of the community together for the purpose of organization. The church was constituted on February 8, 1913, and was given the name Brookwood in honor of the Brooks family.

That was such a long time ago. Back then only 12,000 people lived in Forsyth County, and none of the roads were even paved. Change didn't come for many decades, but when it did, it came fast.

Now almost 250,000 people call this area home, and we're one of the wealthiest counties in the United States. There are paved, four-lane roads all over the place, and you can't throw a rock without hitting a grocery store. The founding members of Brookwood would hardly recognize the place.

Chances are, you're one of those new people. You're not from around here, and neither are your neighbors. Maybe you've struggled to make this area feel like home.

Brookwood would love to welcome you to our family, because what hasn't changed in the last 100 years is the need to be loved, to have roots, to feel like you belong somewhere. We'd love to give you a home and let you experience the love that continues to change lives.

God is at work at Brookwood in new ways. Come and see!
